A review of reports of child sexual exploitation in Buckinghamshire between 1998 and 2016 has resulted in a series of recommendations being made, including that the government introduce a national central database of all licensed taxi drivers. This would make it easier to spot those who had been subject to any regulatory sanctions. The independent review highlighted a number of child sexual exploitation cases involving taxi drivers picking children up from schools and children’s homes. The review was commissioned to learn lessons from historic cases of sexual exploitation and find ways to improve the protection of children and young people.
