5,702 new cases of FGM in 2015/16

Figures from the Health and Social Care Information Centre have revealed that there were 5,702 new cases of female genital mutilation (FGM) in England reported between April 2015 and March 2016. The reports are from healthcare professionals and 18 of the new recorded cases were reported to have taken place in the UK.
