Ofsted has announced that it will pilot a scheme in which councils send them audits of frontline social work practice, under a new inspection regime. These practice audits will be in the form of self-evaluation and will inform the timing and focus of inspections of children’s services. The plans are part of Ofsted’s response to a consultation on the future of social care inspections. The Ofsted report said sharing these audits would help them understand how effectively the local authority evaluates the impact of its work with individual children.
