Green paper on children and young people’s mental health

A green paper has been published setting out the Government’s ambition to ensure those children and young people who need help for their mental help are able to access the right help, at the right time and in the right place. The paper focuses on earlier intervention and prevention, particularly in schools and colleges. The Department of Health and the Department for Education are asking for views on the green paper, which includes proposals: to create a new mental health workforce of community-based mental health support teams; for every school and college to be encouraged to appoint a designated lead for mental health; and for a new four-week waiting time for NHS children and young people’s mental health services to be piloted. The consultation is open until 2 March 2018.
